چکیده

This paper presents a mixed-level factorial design for scalability analysis of the Zereal Massively Multiplayer Game Simulator. The selected factors are number of killers, monsters and CPUs in addition to the killer and monster vision radius. The analysis show that the factors explain approximately 85% of the model (measured in square of errors), which is surprisingly good since the simulation is highly stochastic due to the 1-step Markov based intelligence of monsters and killers. 3

Empirical Performance Evaluation of the Zereal Massively Multiplayer Online Game Simulator

This paper presents a factorial experimental design for testing which factors controlling the scalability of the Zereal Massively Multiplayer Online Game simulator. The analysis show that the factors explain approximately 97% of the model (measured in square of errors), which is surprisingly high since the simulation is stochastic.

Towards a Framework for Designing Speech-Based Player Interaction in Multiplayer Online Games

In this paper we consider the question of how best to design voice communication for use in online multiplayer games. We propose a framework to helps shape both our understanding of games and how we approach games as objects of study and as artifacts to be designed. The framework suggests a focus on designing player-to-player interaction within games. We discuss existing implementations of voic...

The Design of Synchronization Mechanisms for Peer-to-Peer Massively Multiplayer Games

Massively multiplayer online games (MMG) are natural applications for peer-to-peer overlays (P2P). However, the absence of synchronization among the peers significantly limits games’ functionality and quality of service. Synchronization in P2P overlays faces problems including scalability, heterogeneous network latency and bandwidth, and non-collaborative participants. We believe these problems...
